#9 THE BALEARIC SEA REPORT

Natalia Barrientos, Raquel Vaquer-Sunyer

In this months edition of the show after a short summer break, we dive deep, under the waters of the Balearic sea that surrounds the Pitiusas islands – to find out what state we are in locally when it comes to our marine ecosystems, our aquatic life, and what warning signs we should be hearing and seeing now to fight climate change. We are far too slowly coming to understand the environmental effects of global warming.  We cannot have a healthy planet, without a healthy sea to soak up some of the carbon. So in today’s episode Jo Youle heads to Palma to the HQ of the Marilles Foundation to chat to Raquel Vaquer who co-ordinates the State of the Balearic Sea project, an initiative that brings together research institutions and local government bodies to assess the condition of the marine environment and its threats  and her colleague, Natalia Barrientos who is the other key worker for the State of the Balearic Sea project.
