Episode #4 March 2021

Helena Norberg-Hodge

Local Futures director and founder, Helena Norberg-Hodge, talks to Jo Youle in today’s Gang Of Witches Ibiza Podcast episode to unravel the story of how globalisation came to power and why localisation is the answer to heal not only the planet, but also our communities.
The award winning documentary maker of the Economics of Happiness goes back to her days in Ladakh, as she gives us the full background on where she saw first hand how an indiginous community totally changed as the Western world shipped in as roads were built and the sadness and local issues that came with it. Comparison is the thief of joy and Helena says focussing on local businesses, supporting our local farmers and buying from local food producers to tackle climate change is the only way to solve the problems that we urgently have to face.
Her latest book Local is Our Future is a blueprint for the work that needs to be done now to fix our economical crisis and bring our locality back into harmony, starting with the next World localisation day in June.
